Lazy Sunday

On Sunday we slept in before getting up and heading out to Queen Victoria Market. I got all of my fruits, vegetables, and a ton of meat for under $40. You would never find deals like that in the US.

There is a huge wearhouse filled with booths like this. They have every meat you can imagine, including fresh seafood. They also have something similar for fruits and veggies. I am definitely going to miss this when I get home.

After picking up my groceries, I shopped around for souvenirs and then decided to get some lunch. There were food stands everywhere and I decided on a Nepoli Chicken Kabobs.

They were delicious! After eating, we were really tempted by dessert and ended up getting some hand rolled doughnuts covered in nutella and walnuts.

IMAG1895It doesn’t look very good in this photo but it was awesome. My mom would have loved this. 🙂

After the market I came home and ended up napping for about 2.5 hours. After I woke up, a bunch of us hung out and then arranged to go down to the waterfront for a late dinner. We sat outside under the stand alone heaters and ended up talking for about 3 hours! It was the perfect relaxing way to end the weekend. 🙂

Night Market

Last night around 8pm, our group ventured out to the Queen Victoria Night Market. We weren’t really sure what we were in for, but we knew it was supposed to be fun and have a lot of food. As we walked closer and closer, we could hear loud music and crowds of people – the market was nothing like I expected!

There were tons of food vendors everywhere. They ranged from selling kangaroo burgers to homemade macaroons of every flavor. Most of the group tried the kangaroo for dinner, but I wasn’t that hungry. I held out for dessert and had a nutella and strawberry filled crepe. 😊

The market almost reminded me of the Woodstock fair with all of the little souvenir stands, music, and people. It was really fun and I can’t wait to go again. It runs every Wednesday night in the summer here. Unfortunately, since the end of summer is coming, next week is the last one. I’m really glad we got here in time to at least see it though!

I am so happy tomorrow is Friday! This has been the longest work week ever it feels like. This weekend we are visiting Phillip Island on Saturday and going on the Yarra Valley Wine, Chocolate, and Cheese tour on Sunday. I’m very excited for both!

Also here are a few more pictures from the wildlife sanctuary that my professor passed along
