Exciting News!

These past few days have just been a whirlwind for me. I officially accepted a summer internship with the company that I interviewed with in NYC just over a week ago. I am so excited that I have been given this opportunity and I think it will be a great experience for me. Not only am I excited to have actually obtained a job for the summer, I am excited about the role that I will be playing. I have never envisioned myself in a lab or research setting, and I believe that this type of job on the consulting/business side of Fire Protection Engineering is what will be the best fit for me. I’m grateful for the opportunity to test out this theory. 🙂

One of the most difficult things in the engineering field is getting your foot in the door of a company. This is particularly hard when you don’t have any older friends or relatives who are also in the field that you can use for connections. Opposite to that, it’s nice to know that I landed this job completely on my own and not due to somebody pulling strings on the other side for me. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing that your hard work is finally paying off!

That being said, I cannot believe that my junior year on campus will be coming to a close in a matter of days. I truly feel like just yesterday I arrived to my freshman dorm and met some of my first college friends. It is amazing how time flies by. Only one more year of undergraduate for me!

Tomorrow, I will be sharing one of my very favorite recipes – heathy chicken parm!
