This weekend was a good one! After my over night on Friday, I was exhausted. I slept until almost noon on Saturday before getting up and starting my day. Around 4pm, five of us went to an old professors apartment for fire protection career advice.
He moved to Melbourne about five years ago and was one of the original founders of the FPE program at my college. He had a lot of awesome advice and even told us to reach out to him next May if we are interested in a 6 month internship in Melbourne after graduation. I would love that! 😊
After saying goodbye, we went home and got ready for a night out at the casino. I didn’t gamble at all, but the rest of the group did. I was content just watching. A few of my friends were up $60-100 by the time we left, but most of them had lost money. It was a fun excuse to get dressed up and go out somewhere nice!

On Sunday morning we slept in before heading to a chili festival at the Melbourne Immigration Museum. I don’t love spicy foods, so it wasn’t the best place for me.. but it was still a lot of fun.

On the way home I stopped at a salon and got a manicure and pedicure as an early birthday present for myself. I also shopped around a bit and picked up some new face lotion since mine ran out. My mom raves about L’occitane products and I couldn’t resist when I saw they were having a deal. I can’t wait to try it out.
After our relaxing night last week on the water front, we decided to do it again. We went back to the same restaurant and sat around talking and having a few drinks until almost midnight. I had the most delicious drink while I was there this time too, it was called “High on Chai.”
Unfortunately once everyone heard how good it was and tasted it, it was halfway gone! Hopefully I can replicate at home one day.
Tonight we are going to something called Escapism at Strike bowling bar. Basically you and a group of your friends get locked in a room for an hour that emulates a murder mystery and you have to find your way out. I had been dying to try it, but nobody wanted to go with me. Last night when we were walking back from the waterfront I mentioned it to the guys I was with and they were all about it – so we have a reservation for 9:00. Wish us luck!
xo,
Jaclyn
